“This bike started out as a 1987 Centurion Dave Scott Master Triathlon 12-speed with Tange No. 1 double-butted tubing. I wanted an all-pink single-speed, and its quality frame and Shimano 600 brakes, crank, and headset made this a good candidate for renovation and conversion. After dismantling the bike and sawing/filing off the shift lever mounting lugs on the downtube, the frame and fork were powder coated pink. I left the rear derailleur hanger on in case I ever want to convert it back to a multi-speed. My husband reassembled the bike with wheels he built from Mavic Open Pro rims, pink Milwaukee high-flange hubs, and DT Swiss double-butted spokes. The 42-tooth chainring is Salsa, and the 17-tooth freewheel is Shimano. The Noah’s Ark handlebars from Soma are wrapped with pink tape and equipped with new Shimano brake levers. A pink seat and pink toe straps complete the theme. Its light weight and tight geometry make the bike a quick handler for my daily commutes to the office.”
