“I don’t have a whole lot of detail to give for my bike as it is my first road bike purchased at the beginning of this year. At first I was hesitant about getting a pink bike (the only color option), but I’ve gotten so many compliments about it that I am now wholly embracing the pink! To top it off, I just finished my first Cinderella Ride (100k) this past Saturday on it! Go Velo Girls and go pink!”
Lorri Lee Lown, founder of Velo Girls (a super cool women’s cycling group in the San Francisco Bay Area), on her custom pink-to-purple fade-with-flowers custom Luna Orbit cyclocross bike. And, of course, matching jersey, shorts, and helmet. And socks. Lorri is also a USACycling Expert Coach, ACE-Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, and Johnny G.-Certified Spinning Instructor.
NOTE: Dita’s bike was one of the first in the girlbike pink bicycle sighting’s gallery. In March 2008, she sent me an updated photo of her and her bike.
Dita says her bike is more plum/metalic than pink. Even though her bicycle looks silver in the picture, Dita says that in the light she shimmers with pink and plum highlights.
She writes, “This is me on my full custom Mondonico Futura Legero, she’s all Campy Record, Columbus Nemo tubing. I ride with the Velo Girls club.” Photo taken by Mark Fong, Marc Fong, Jr. and Carol Melanie Galan who provide photographs for the Breast Cancer Fund.
